Hermès

September 27th - October 16th, 2010

A simple statement from Paris – I love my scarf. Shout it in the street, write it in lipstick on your mirror, stick it on your fridge, pin it to your chest.

J’aime mon carré - who A fanzine realised by one photographer, one art director, one stylist, in four cities New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, with 7 girls, 4 boys, 250 scarves, a lot of photo booths, 2 dogs, 79 birds, 8 miles of pavement, 680 cups of green tea, 30 cakes, 10 hot dogs, 300 knots, some friends from 24 faubourg St Honoré in Paris, and suitcases of talent and fun - singing, laughing, dancing, posing and kissing.

J’aime mon carré - how An Hermès scarf is for life and for living. The idea behind this simple project was born of the desire of Hermes’ artistic director of silk, Bali Barret, to document the fervour around that traditional silk square of which the Hermès ‘carré’ is the ultimate expression. British photographer, Matt Irwin, travelled to 4 capitals, to create a fanzine with art director, Dean Langley and stylist, Francesca Burns around 4 girls and their lives and loves – friends, lovers, places, and of course, their scarves. The tone is fresh and light –an invitation to join the party.

J’aime mon carré - live J’aime mon carré will be launched around the world from mid-July. Countries as far afield as Australia and the Czech Republic will hold special events to celebrate the who and the how of the scarf.
