Jim Krantz
01/10
Jim Krantz is an American photographer from Chicago, Illinois. His body of work illustrates his immense range, blurring the boundaries between commercial work and fine art. Commercially, Krantz has photographed campaigns for clients such as U.S. Army and Marines, Nokia, and McDonald’s. He also created some of the most famous images of Marlboro Country for Philip Morris. As an artist, Krantz challenges the notion of traditional photography with installations like Moments Within a Moment and his recent Continuum series. Recently, he traveled to the Ukraine to photograph the forgotten inhabitants of Chernobyl’s Forbidden Zone. His exhibition at Colette, from January 3rd to January 31st 2010 will feature his Adam Kimmel 2010 Western-influenced look book photography as well as his encaustic "Moments Within a Moment" installation.
